Director
Rachel Stafford is the Director at A Child’s World and has been affiliated with this program since 1998. She has served previously as teacher, director, trainer, training coordinator, and consultant. Rachel graduated with an AA degree and has 34 years of experience in early childhood education in the Greater Reno-Sparks area. She has collaborated with Dr. Willans in the implementation of Interactive Teaching
Welcome Yvonne Krekelberg, Assistant Director
Yvonne has been promoted from teacher to Assistant Director at A Child’s World. She brings teaching and childcare management experience to this position with her previous work in early childhood education, managing a pre-school and with Children’s Cabinet. Parents will quickly appreciate her enthusiasm and commitment to quality care for their children.
Founder
Dr. Art Willans holds a bachelor and master of science in education and a Ph. D. in Developmental and Child Psychology. He operates A Child's World Pre-school and Child Development Center where he has refined his revolutionary methods for teaching children.
Celebrating Over 30 Years of Serving Children and Families
A Child's World is a family-owned pre-school that has been a leader in serving children and families in the Reno-Sparks area for 30 years. We are licensed by Nevada Child Care Licensing, which includes compliance with childcare licensing regulations, semi-annual inspections, and compliance with regulations from Northern Nevada Health District and the Nevada State Fire Marshal. We participate in Nevada’s Child Care Quality Rating and Improvement System, and follow the guidelines of the Nevada Pre-K education standards. It is our goal to achieve the highest of professional standards throughout the school. The owners are Dr. Art and Sharon Willans. Dr. Art has a Ph.D. in Developmental and Child Psychology from the University of Kansas, while Sharon has a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Both have extensive experience in children’s and human service programs.

Our Programs
A Child’s World serves children from ages 2 through 5. Programs include a toddler program, a preschool & prekindergarten.
Updates and Information
Curriculum for the week is posted in the lobby and in each classroom. Please feel free to review this with your child’s teacher. Also, by reviewing these plans on a regular basis, you may find ways to supplement these concepts at home and thereby enhance your child’s education. To keep parents informed about our in-class activities, our teachers describe the highlights of the day on the communication boards hung in the sign-in/sign-out area. Please take a moment to read about your child’s day.
Philosophy of the School
A Child’s World is a Pre-School and Child Development Center committed to excellence in early childhood education. It is our goal that children will be happy while learning and growing. Some aspects of early child development will be encouraged by discovery through play while other aspects will be actively taught. Our teachers, with their love of children, will provide a wealth of learning opportunities to benefit all aspects of development. By careful attention to ongoing communication with parents, a partnership will develop to encourage your child to reach full potential.
